چکیده

We consider a one-dimensional Josephson junction in a superconducting film with the thickness that is much less than the London penetration depth. We treat an electromagnetic wave propagating along this tunnel contact. We show that the electrodynamics of a Josephson junction in a thin film is nonlocal if the wave length is less than the Pearl penetration depth. We find the integro-differential equation determining the phase difference between the two superconductors forming the tunnel contact. We use this equation to calculate the dispersion relation for an electromagnetic wave propagating along the Josephson junction. We find that the frequency of this wave is proportional to the square root of the wave vector if the wave length is less than the Pearl penetration depth. 74.50.+r, 74.76.Db Typeset using REVTEX 1

Nonlinear response of a thin metamaterial film containing Josephson junctions

An interaction of electromagnetic field with metamaterial thin film containing split-ring resonators with Josephson junctions is considered. It is shown that dynamical self-inductance in a split rings results in reduction of magnetic flux through a ring and this reduction is proportional to a time derivative of split ring magnetization. Evolution of thin film magnetization taking into account d...

Interpretation of a microwave induced current step in a single intrinsic Josephson junction on a Bi - 2223 thin film

Thin stacks consisting of a single intrinsic Josephson junction on (Bi,Pb)-Sr-Ca-Cu-O thin films are investigated under the influence of external microwave fields. The I-V-characteristic shows a single resistive branch, a clear superconducting gap edge structure and a pronounced current step in external microwave fields. With increasing irradiation power it shifts to higher voltages, while the ...

Nonlocal electrodynamics of Josephson junctions in thin films and fractional vortices

The phase difference φ across a Josephson junction is considered for a film with a thickness d λ, where λ is the London penetration depth in the superconducting banks. Special attention is given to the case of a critical current density jc varying along the junction. It is shown that a nonlinear integro-differential equation determines the spatial distribution of φ for d λ. Josephson properties...

Effect of current injection into thin-film Josephson junctions

New thin-film Josephson junctions have recently been tested in which the current injected into one of the junction banks governs Josephson phenomena. One thus can continuously manage the phase distribution at the junction by changing the injected current. A method of calculating the distribution of injected currents is proposed for a half-infinite thin-film strip with source-sink points at arbi...

Josephson Current For a Graphene Nanoribbon Using a Lattice Model

A tight binding approach based on the Bogoliubov-de Gennes approach has been used to calculate the DC Josephson current for a lattice model for S-GNR-S junctions , for short junctions with respect to superconducting coherence length. We calculate the phase, length, width and chemical potential dependence at the Josephson junction and discuss the similarities and differences with regard to the t...
